I use winamp mostly. hate WMP. And I usually get K-lite codec pack delux or something like that, but it's been a while.

I use WMP 10 and ffdshow for codecs, but I am thinking about trying out Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative because I hate Quicktime and I refuse to install RealPlayer on my system.

Quick question:

If I get VLC, then I dont' need to get Real Alternative or QT Alternative?

Edit: Damn the ffdshow has different versions for processor optimizations....that is sweet!

VLC will play just about anything including DVD so you don't have to worry about codec. I normally use MPC along with WMP 10 and FFDshow. I use VLC if I've problems playing any file.

My recent installs are with k-lite codec pack including BSplayer. I don't like windows player especially, but tend to use it lately, although bsplayer has run the ones that WMP choked on.

And Cyberlink PowerDVD also.

Thanks! I have a couple Divx files that won't play even though Gspot says I have the correct codec installed. Maybe ffdshow will work for me.
