What video editing software to use for making a Power Hour DVD

For anyone who doesn't know, a Power Hour is a drinking game where you take one shot of beer every minute. Usually it's done with music, where 1-minute music clips play and each time the song changes, you take a drink, but I'd like to do this with movie clips instead.

Something that's free would be preferable, and maybe something that'll work with .flv movies so I can get the clips from Youtube to cut them all together.

So any suggestions?

I usually use VirtualDub for video editing. Get a divx codec (you may need pro) and Lame MP3 Codec for encoding. I haven't looked into it but I believe divx pro costs money, you may be able to get xvid or some other codec for free compression. There are many virtualdub tutorials out there, give google a look. As far as flv files are concerned, I don't know if they're supported, I usually only deal with AVI and MPG.

You'll have to find a way to convert the flv files to something more manageable first.

Then I would use Ulead DVD Movie Factory. That's what I use to put video files into DVD format. It's got a free 30 day trial, fully functional.

Sure, that's no problem. What do you suggest converting them to? MPG, AVI?

I use Premiere Pro CS3, but I also do TONS of video editing and remixing. There is a free trial of Premiere Elements 5, and it's a great little program for something like what you need.

Thanks guys! After googling your suggestions I think I've got everything I need. If anyone wants a copy of this thing after I'm done with it feel free to PM me, I'll send you one 🙂

2 pass xvid

or use x264

Windows Movie maker (as lame as it is) might be useful as (if I remember correctly) it splits up clips into 15-60sec segments when you import video. That's half the work right there. You can assemble them, render a video, then use some other software to make a playable DVD out of it.

I remember doing the 100's club many years ago...100 beer shots in 100 minutes. I made it no problem but can't lie, I puked like a mofo about 20 minutes later. 😱

We tried doing a Super Power Hour, which is a shot every 30 seconds for 30 minutes a few days ago. Needless to say, I did not make it.
