What video cards draw less power?

I'm on a Sony Vaio 430G. It's pretty stock and it's got a Radeon 9200 128mb video card and I believe a 300 watt power supply. I've gotten tired of the lag on Halo and WCIII. But I've read that adding a better video card such as the 9800 Pro or the X800 might be too much for the power supply and would crash the system.

1. Is this true or can I safely stick in the 9800 Pro?
2. Is there a way to upgrade the power supply?
3. How loud are these cards? (I added a GF2 Ti4200 to my older Vaio and the fan on that is LOUD. Don't want the same thing happening to this computer.)

TIA!

Radeon 9600s are low-power and generally fanless. Zalman makes a fanless heatpipe which should work for the 9800. The extra power may increase the noise of the PSU fan, but not hugely.

It looks like probably the x800 uses less power than the 9800 pro, but not sure. x800 is supposed to be fairly quiet and quiet solutions are being made. Power usage at tom's
