x850xt is faster
6800ultra supports ps3 and dx9c
6800gt can easily be boosted to 6800u speeds

I love these threads! :D I would get a Radeon X850XT PE, but the 6800 Ultra is no slouch, either. It comes down to personal perference.

Radeon X850XTPE EASY. If price does not matter tho, why not get 2 6800U and put them in SLI?

well i only had the 4 choices to choose from, from an alienware computer.

But now im mad! the AMD procesor alienware only offers a 6800 ultra or a X800Pro

And the P4 alienware offers a 6800 ultra or a X850 XT PE

GRRRR

If only I weren't a die hard Intel and ATI fan. God that's enough to make my mouth water. The computing power alone. :|

Why did you ask then?

P4 anything is easily outperformed by A64.

ATI is easily outperformed by SLI.

You say price is no object, but appear to have your mind made up to what you want to buy.

HOWEVER- as a guy who doesn't always buy the "straight benchmarks" fastest, I can appreciate this, and obviously none of your choices other than a single 6600GT would limit you in any significant way.

What will be the resolution of your monitor? That should play a factor in what video card to get.

Unless you play Doom 3 or Chronicles of Riddick 24/7, then

ATI RADEON? X850 XT Platinum Edition PCI Express 256MB DDR3 w/ Dual Digital and TV Out

EDIT: Even if A64 comes with 6800Ultra, P4 with X850XT PE will be faster.

Get A64 + 6800GT in SLI.

Heck with Xbit- they only run 16X AF because they know ATIs Trylinear is faster at it. They must feel a kinship with ATI, because they are in the frozen North as well. California angers them. ;)

Call alienware and tell them you want an athlon 64 3800+ with the x850xt pe and it won't let you select that option. If they won't do that then shop elsewhere.

The x850xt is the fastest, no question. But it's also the most money.

This isn't even comparable. You have two like $500 cards, one $400 and one $200.
I would go 6800gt. It's the happy medium and you can get Ultra performance out of it with only a minor tweak, no volt mod or 3rd party cooler needed either.

aleinware quality is noly middling. they've really gone downhill since around 2000/2001. go monarch, falcon northwest or voodoo for your high end build. they give great customer service, good quality and monarch has good prices.(falcon nw and voodoo is more bragging rights, sorta like buying a lambo or ferrari)

If you're disappointed in the selection. I suggest trying a different vendor. check out Falcon Northwest or VooDoo PC.
