What video card with Q6700

I have Dell 9200, Q6700 with 8600 GTS video. The current power supply is 375W. I'm looking to upgrade my power supply to Corsair pro HX850W. My monitor is a Dell 3007WFPHC, and looking to upgrade another one, running side by side. What the best video card for my setup? The cpu is max out for this motherboard, but I'm happy with the cpu so far. I do like gaming when I get a chance. Thanks.

With your CPU, you can couple it with any single GPU in the market, probably you may hit some limitations with HD 5870 Crossfire or HD 5970 Quad Fire, but the difference isn't very bad.

How much are you willing to spend? (Like cusideabelincoln already said). Give us a range so that we could recommend a good graphics card.

Absolutel minimum one Radeon 5850. If you're going 30-inch you need that power. You probably want a 5870 actually. Well sure a 5850 is fine at that res most of the time too, just not in Crysis or Stalker Clear Sky. If you want Crysis 30-inch maxed out with 4xAA you will actually need a Radeon 5970. Clear Sky isn't even playable with AA on 30-inch on a freaking 5970. But I think it's ridiculous to demand that much perfection.

So 5850 or 5870. The latter is faster, but not in proportion to how much more $ you are spending. 5850 is about 16-19% faster most of the time.

Thanks for the replys 🙂 I didn't really have a cash amount on the card. I'm looking for something that performs well with the monitor and cpu. I'll start looking into the 5970

I assume you can't OC that CPU in that board. My Q6700 hums right along at 3.5ghz and I'm using a GTX280.

I would get a HD5870 in the "Vapor-X" model if you could find one. You might as well wait a little bit longer until Nvidia launches Fermi cards, then AMD will drop the prices on the 58xx series cards or you might like a Fermi card? IMO, the graphics card market is really boring right now, AMD can't make enough 58xx cards and Nvidia is really late. I've got a Q6700 @ 3GHz and a GTX275 but only a 22" LCD.

well, thats another matter ..depends on your case ..and they both are long cards ..i'd go for 5870 or 5850 even cause its the same chip just downclocked and a bit ripped off for some things but it's excellent ..if u pick 5850 go with asus or msi so u wont be bothered with flashing bios and u can go to 1ghz on core if u have good enough psu

..agreed with the upper post about prices
