Does anyone know of a pci express video card that will support two 30" lcd monitors at the 2560x1600 resolution?

Or atleast one 30" and one 24" (2560x1600 and 1920x1200)?

Don't need anything with high FPS, it is for office use, mostly to be able to keep lots of documents open (word, excel, outlook etc) at the same time.

Thanks!

Wouldn't any card with two DVI-D outputs do it? 8800GTS 320/640 / GTX.

Don't think there's any mainstream single-card that can do this, since 2560x1600 requires dual-link DVI to carry the signal, effectively using both DVI connections on a card. There may be some workstation-level cards that support this like FireGL or Quadro.

Pretty sure you can run SLi or CF with 2 x 2 cards (each with 2 x DVI) to drive 2 x 2560 or lower resolution panels, but its somewhat risky given the state of SLi/CF drivers and functionality.

Dual link DVI doesnt use both DVI ports. It just describes a DVI port with more possible connections. If you compare pictures between a dual link DVI and a regular DVI port, there are more "holes" (dont know how else to describe them) in the dual link one.

Heres a good example

It says Dual-Link on the manufacturer's page, but it doesn't specify that both ports are DL-DVI ... If they are though, that's the winner right there. Passively cooled, dual-DL-DVI, and cheap! :D

I know that all (I think?) X1800/X1900s have two dual-link DVI ports, but possibly only some X1600s. Not sure about the GF8 line.

IIRC the X1600 core only has one dual-link DVI onboard, so the manufacturer has to add another dual-link TMDS chip if they want two of them.

well cant do sli/cf because there is only one x16 slot available.

I guess I should be more specific, this card is going into a notebook docking station with a single x16 pcie slot. The notebook itself can drive one dvi up to 1920x1200 (ati x1400 chipset), but the boss wants two big monitors including one 30" lcd.

I think either the external pcie card can drive as a secondary card, or idealy it can drive two monitors and be the primary card. If not then the NB can use the internal x1400 to drive the 24" he has now, and use the pcie as a secondary card to drive the 30" by itself.

So it has to be a half length (full or half height) pcie card, drawing less then 50watts.

If you click on this image it shows that each DVI is dual link variety.

OP could call Newegg to confirm.

It seems it's not unsual for X1650 cards to have dual DL-DVI inputs. Here is another card but not passively cooled >> Link
