Well, I just order all the pieces for a new computer. (P4 3.0 Ghz 800mhz FSB, Asus p4c800 Canterwood mobo, ocz 256 ddr 400 ram x 2, audigy 2 plat, antec lanboy case) The only thing I have left get is a graphics card. I was going to get the Radeon 9800 pro, but I couldn't find it anywhere a few days ago (I found it yesterday on newegg). But after coming here and reading some posts I saw some stuff on the NV35, and from what I saw from preliminary benchmarks (http://www.tt-hardware.com/img/news/news090503_1dujour.gif) it to beat the 9800 rather badly, assuming the numbers I saw are true. These benchmarks made me question getting the 9800. So my question to you is, what card should I get, the 9800 pro now or wait and get the nv35? What is the rumored date that nv35 will be out by, because if the performance is going to be as good as the benchmark it looks like it's gonna be worth it. The second part of my question is, when will the diffrence between the 9800's performance and the nv35's performance (assuming the benchmark's are true) beggin to matter? Because right now there are not really any games out that can take full advantage of either card, and both card are so good that you won't be able to tell a performance diffrence when playing a game.
My second question is if you all have any suggestion or tips for a first time computer builder. The only thing I'm really worried about is applying the thermal compound, I just don't really like the idea of applying some goo to my $500 proccesor.
