im going to have to get a video card obciously after i complete my cpu construction. I need some recommendations.

Im looking at Geforce Fx5600
Geforce Fx 5200
Geforce Fx 5900 (not the ultra)

it seems i can get these cards for no more than 200 bux.

I am also looking at Radeon 9700
and radeon 9600

these are my options. Pls guide me and make a kind of ascending order of the cards in regards to which is better than the other.

thanks

I'd go Sapphire 9600 Pro for $151 from Newegg or Powercolor 9700 nonpro for $215 from Newegg or Sapphire 9800 nonpro for $244 from GameVE. All are free shipping atm. Those seem to be the choices people recommend now, it just depends how much you have to spend...

I just bought a Leadtek 5600 Ultra with TIVO and all that crap. I put it in and all I saw was fragments of windows. I havent had a chance to call the reseller. BUT I want this card and I recommend it. I am not tell you to scare you but to let you know that I want mine replaced. Here is an email I got from leadtek:

From Leadtek Support Email:
There is no known report about the A310 Ultra TD has display issue in Windows. I think it is likely the problem is an isolated case. If you have problem obtain services with your vendor, we can setup RMA services for you to send the card back for services.

So I would go for a 5600 Ultra.

hmmm, okay lets say i dont want a budget for choosing these cards. I simply want to know which is better than which.

I know at the moment that the 9800 and the Fx5900 Ultra are the costliest at the moment so i don't want to get thatm.

So iam looking at

FX 5900
FX 5600 Ultra
FX 5600 AGP
FX 5200 Ultra
FX 5200 AGP

and im looking at Ati's 9600 and 9700

now whic is the better card, like i said pls make a ascending order list of the quality and performance range of each card.

thanks

actually forget bout the fx5900 its way too much for me. SO i'll try to go for a 9600 or a 9700 or a Fx5600. So which is the best out of these 3 now, which is the second best.

Wow, your going to build a CPU? How are you going to get the access to your needed equipment. [/sarcasm] I belive you ment to say I complete my computer construction. Dont worry, you are not alone in thinking that the CPU and the computer are one in the same, but they arnt. The CPU (Central Processing Unit) controls the commands that come in and out from the programs and is a major peice needed for a computer, a computer is a device composed of the following componets, a CPU, RAM, Some OS on a storage system, and a motherboard. (these are minimum)

what the hell is up with you? I meant i will complete building my CPU ofcourse. Iam getting all these seperate components like mobo, processor, videocard, powersupply. I already bought a 450W PS for it, now im getting the rest. Whats your prob, dont u understand simple english?
lol

LOL I was wondering about that too. The nVidia cards are crap for the money. Read through the 20439753209570943543057 posts that brought this same thing up in the last 2 weeks and you'll see 9600 Pro for $151, 9700 np for $215, 9800 np for $244. I don't get the whole list thing you are talking about. The more money you pay for these cards the better they are all other factors being the same. It's simple economics. I feel the 9800 is the best deal and I kinda think the 9600 Pro is a waste of money, but why get the 9700 when a 9800 can be had for only $29 more? Just decide how much you can spend and pick one, not a big deal...

reason im reluctant on ati cards is that i had dull experiences with them in the past. I once bought a radeon 7500 pci and it honestly sucked ass. THe screen would always be jerky and shaking from time to time, even after i downloaded the latest drivers. MY friend also had a ati card in his comp and his screen was always shaking a little. THats when i came to know that ati sucked like sh!t back then. I hope there are no similiar flaws in the new ones. HAs anyone noticed these probs?

Apoc, CPU is not the computer, its the processor, you dont "build it". You are building your Rig or Computer, whichever term you prefer.

ok,should i call it the CPU box now?

everyone calls it a Cpu around here anyways, its like a slang for the cpu box i guess.

Well, everyone around there is wrong. Like I stated in my previous post, the CPU is a serperate part to a computer. You should call it your computer, and call everyone else that calls it a CPU a Dumb@$$. Nuff said.
[edit]It drives me nuts to see people call their computers CPU's, But it really get on my nerves when I correct them and they ARGUE that they are right and I'm wrong.[/edit]

If I was you i'd go for the FX5600, I know MSI makes a good 256 mb one that's been blowing people away and winning comparaisons at TomsHardware

Don't know how expensive it is but you could go with a 128 mb one if it's pricey😉
