9700 Pro, 9800 Pro, or GeForce FX 5900 would all be good choices. Your CPU can handle them all. My roommates are running an XP 2000+ with a 9700 Pro and an XP 2200+ with an FX 5900, and both systems work great and play current games without a hitch. However, it might be good to know what you are planning on replacing and what you are going to do with the PC.

DDR is SDRAM so it's the best for now. Set a $ figure and go from there as you can always move the Vid Card to another machine if so desired.

I don't think any big-brand computer maker uses anything but DDR-SDRAM nowadays.

Your system will not have enough power to push a 9800pro to its limits, but you will be able to turn on all the eye candy.

How much are you willing to spend?

For ~$180 an eVGA FX5900SE is a very good card to buy. If you want to spend a little less perhaps you should look into the 9600XT.
