I really like what the matrox cards do with tv-out. your main monitor continues to run at normal res while your videos output to tv. Really good looking too (better than my visiontek's gf2 ti tv-out) with tv-tool.

It can suck up a lot of cpu power though. Really nice option if you don't need gaming power.

resolution wise I would have to say ATI's cards (what else is there besides Nvidia if you want a "current" card anyway?)

The new cards (and even the VE) can do 1024 to the TV. I haven't seen the quality of the 7500 or 8500, but the original Radeon (AIW, VIVO, VE and LE I have seen) were good, especially for games and movies.

With the raedon 8500, can you send just the video from a dvd to the tv? So your desktop would remain the same but the movie would be on the tv. Almost just like a sigma designs card. In the software dvd that comes with a sigma desighns card theres a option on the dvd player software to send to the s-video out.

Thanks for all your help

but the remote control software was buggy.
