What video card for 50+ fps at 1920x1200?

What video card would allow me to play games at 1920 resolution and get over 50fps for new games coming throughout the next 12months? Assume quality settings are set to high.

Nothing you can buy yet, a $550 nv 9800GX2 is only 40 fps in Crysis - slow!

It should be good enough if you're willing to lower quality settings a bit sometimes.

An 8800GTS 512 for $200 (newegg, MSI, after $30 rebate) will do that for most current games, for new game you might have to turn down settings. It's also cheap enough that you could buy it now and replace it in 6-9 months.

It's a much better value than the $300 9800GTX, especially if you are willing to upgrade again sooner than in a year.

isn't the gts pretty equal with a gt in most games? why not get a gt?

GTS is faster. Higher clocks, better cooler, 16 more shaders.

That's what I'm doing. My 320MB GTS isn't gonna cut it at 1920x1200 on my new monitor, but it'll work great on my girlfriend's 1440x900 monitor.

Other than Crysis, you should be okay with a 8800GTS or even a OCed 8800GT. All the games I've run recently have been fairly decent at 1920x1200 with my OCed GT.

Several of my games have been somewhat struggling at 1600x1200 without AA already. I used the monitor purchase to get the upgrade. It's the video RAM that's doing it, I think, more than the processing power.
