what video card do you recommend

Hey guys!

I haven't been into the computer field for a while (just built my athlon64 2800 to upgrade my athlon Tbird) and I was wondering if you guys could recommend a video card for me.

I'm looking for something with clarity and midrange performance for games (Thinking of playing HL2 someday so if it could be decent (not glorifying) for HL2 that would be nice)

I'm looking for something below $50
If i'm not going to be able to play HL2 with a $50 card then I'd like to know when you guys think the prices will drop for a HL2 playable video card.

I think any card would do better than my geforce2 gts (asusv7700?)

Do you guys thinkg i should get a cheap $50 card for now and upgrade to a nice card in 6mo or so?
I'm note sure what to do.

I'd also like tv out (svideo out) and a monitor out for lcd (do they use different plugs? i might upgrade to lcd soon)

I don't trade on eBay at all, but assuming it's a safe place to buy, that card looks like the best you can do for a $50 gaming card. 128MB and VIVO isn't bad at all, and a 4200 should be decent for HL2 (see Anandtech's benchmarks).

don't know ... i'm iffy with ebay, but anyhow the bid went up past 50 and there's shipping

maybe i should just wait and geta 9800 pro when it's less than 125

You will be waiting a LONG time. Get a used 9700pro for 120 shipped from the fs/ft fourms.
