9800 pro OC'd to XT speeds

Wow, the 6800 series is way ahead of the X800 series here at AT.

I have a 6800 gt I just got. But man, I really regret not saving another 150 and getting the x800xt pe ... it's the best card out there right now. Too much blasted 6800 gt/ultra hype got me to buy one :)

Right now I'm running my trusty 8500. I'm looking to upgrade in the next month or so most likely to a 6800NU. Seems to be the best bang for my budget. Who knows, maybe they'll have a deal for one on Black Friday. :D

ATI 9800 Pro.
I'm thinkin on 6800 gt
ain't likely to be worth the swapout.

shilala,

What are you smoking? I want some of it. Even if you've got an OC'ed 9800 Pro 256MB you should see a BIG difference in game performance. I went from a 9800 Pro 256MB (stock speed) to an HIS Excalibur X800 XT IceQ II [PE} and it literally doubled my framerates EVEN WITH EVERYTHING TURNED ON AND SET TO HIGH!

Granted, my CPU is going to be a bit faster and the dual-channel memory on the FX-53 helps a little, but from all reviewer accounts and the 6800GT owners on AT you won't be dissapointed with the 6800GT. It is currently the best bang for the <$400.00 buck. Better performance than a stock X800 Pro (not OC'ed or flashed to X800 XT specs) AND supports SM 3.0 (Direct-X 9.0C).

This is coming from a guy who has an X800 XT PE. I'm very happy with my X800 XT PE, it is a great card with top-shelf performance - right up there with the 6800 Ultra in just about any 3D game out right now, even faster in some games. However, the 6800GT is the best performance/price value going right now. If you've got the money "Just do it".

Looks like a few others were annoyed ATI opted to ship the same card for the 3rd calendar year in a row- 56>9 for the 6800>X800 ratio? That would have been reversed last year with the 9800s.

People seem to be avoiding the X800 in droves, comparable performance or not.
