I want to get a HD digtial cable box and watch it on my computer. I got a 19in crt right now I should be able to do HD no problem im guessing. My question is whats the best video card to do something like this. I want to use the dvi out from the cable box to a dvi in on a video card. Right now my video card is BFG 6900 Ultra. It has two dvi outs. So im guessing im gonna need something like a ATI all in wonder card buts its gonna have to be pci since im using my agp port right now. I dont have pci-e just to let you know

I would use the box on a video capture card, like a all in wonder ATI. That way you can decode it and save certin progams to your pc.

a caputre card with DVI, my favorite might not be yours. I dont mess with capture cards, i dont really know much of anything with capture cards.

The only video capturing I've ever done in my life was with one of these: All-In-Wonder 9600. Mine was/is the 9600XT version, but it should be exactly the same, except for the speed of the gpu, I would think. Anyway, I was surprised at how good the quality of the captured video was. And they come with audio inputs.

First off, an ATi AIW replaces your current video card. You don't need the 6900 with it. People seem to have good luck with something lika a Hauppage WinTV PVR, though I'm not sure those are HD. Just get a decent AIW, like an X800 or better, and ditch the 6900.

I doubt it. You'd be best off trying to do something with component in. I know ATi's Avivo can do component in.
