Contenders:

Geforce 4
Kyro III
ATI R300
Bitboys

Personally I see the Geforce4 as more of the same, I'll be excited in their products once they start incorporating 3DFx components. The KyroIII should be interesting, although I believe that its release will probably be overshadowed by the Geforce 4. The R300 should be interesting, seeing that ATI seems to be cleaning up its act when it comes to drivers. And of couse there is the bitboys card, which with all the rumours on teh net, appears that they may soon have silicon.

GF4 looks like little more then an overclocked GF3 with extra vertex shaders, not too much especially new.
BitBoys... well suffice to say I'll have a sex change before they ever get a card out. In other words it aint happnin' ;)
Kyro III: Mildly interested in what's new, but I don't expect to be too amazed.
R300: I'll be quite interested in the changes in the R300.
The original Radeon was a fascinating design and broke from the pure brute force trend of the time, and the R200 core has proven quite versatile and improved dramatically upon the original Radeon.

Yes are you related to BFG10K ;) anyway to answer your question I`m more interested in GF4 since I always go by driver quality and stability first and Nvidia have never let me down in that department.

driver quality and stability...
nvidia doesn't have any of those...

nvidia boards are allways tested and they (software houses) will never sell a game with some bug for these cards...
these have nothing to do with good quality drivers...

what are good quality drivers?

example:
without any kind of support, a driver/board that can run a game optimized for nvidia faster and better.

I suppose you will say ATi does ;) anyway without getting into flaming I`m a hardcore gamer with over 125+ games and I`ve never had any problems getting any of them working well with Nvidia drivers, btw I`ve nothing against other brands.

Hey Thronc, thats a great idea...

Btw Powervr, you obviously have a prejudice against Nvidia products (your name kind of gives it away ;))!
You don't get to become the Graphic Card industry leader by selling boards with poor stability and bad driver support. As a matter of fact the driver support of Nvidia cards is much better than those of Kyro brand cards.

For the record... I've run into nothing but bad (win2000) drivers and lousey support for my Kyro 2. :) I get artifacts in some games (Dark age of Camelot, some games I've stress beta tested) ... it runs fine in games that work on it, but some games just don't work. Of course, with the problems I'm having installing drivers for my GeForce3 Ti200... though I think that there's something wrong with the card I got.

Most anticipated product for me is the PowerVR Series 4 (what may likely be called Kyro III). Why? Combination of brute force memory speeds and intelligent rendering techniques.

If a BitBoys product was launched it would be interesting also, 1024-bit embedded DRAM running at core speed has to hold some interest. Who knows, they may even release a card this year...

I think you are very wrong...
I have a tv board bt848 chipset...
when I exchange my previous geforce 1 with my kyro 2... all my problems regarding my tv board went way...
and I have no problems in the games I play.

the two days old kyro drivers are rock solid!

they get to the top (nvidia) now they are lazy...

I'll go out on a limb and say my most anticipated cards are the...

<drumroll>

S3 Columbia

and

Bitboys XBA

</drumroll>

Mainly becuase I miss the days when a video card "roundup" was more than Ti500 vs 8500.

powervr, just because nVidia's drivers don't work for your lousy computer doesn't mean that everyone else on earth has a problem. in fact, i've never met anyone (except for you, but you do count) who has had as many "problems" as with nVidia hardware or with the company itself as you have had. in fact, most people enjoy the timely releases and the prompt bug fixes (not to mentiong the large performance increases) that are associated with nVidia's driver team. by the way, were a set of drivers ever released that fixed the kyro II's problems in 3dmark2001?

My Nvidia runs rock solid, but I miss my V5! Geforce 4 could be a blend of both, it is too good to be true.

You're a fool. nVidia has some 4,000 enterprise level computers crunching 24/7 just release new drivers, and rarely are they bad.

I'll be interested in the R300 and the Kyro III, as I can already predict how the GF4 will perform (answer: like a water cooled GF3 Ti500 overclocked). ATi just keeps getting better, maybe they'll finally cure the driver problems (or get close enough) with the R300. STMicrotechnologies Kyro III should be interesting, as the two previous Kyros have shown some interesting hardware capabilities.

I'm upgrading to a 1.2GHz Tualatin Celeron and hopefully oc'ing to 1.6GHz and then I'll sell my Voodoo5-5500 and get a Retain ATI RADEON 8500 (275/550). Can't wait.
