Do you live in the USA? There are some pretty good sales on some cards, but it's also a matter of whether you are OK with overclocking, and are you OK with rebates. If you like to overclock, then look for a sale on an AMD 7950 for $179 after rebate. I think there have been a few already, perhaps even one currently? I have had good luck with rebates. Anyway, that's probably the best value/performance for 1440p, assuming you overclock it.

2560x1440 is the resolution. I am asking what settings are you going to being trying to run. if its max settings then you are not going to come close to getting that 60 fps you want with an inexpensive gpu. thats why I was telling you to look at reviews as it will clearly show what you are in for.

also you should list your pc specs in detail including exact power supply.

Since you have higher standards, here are your options from best to cheapest:

1. GTX Titan
2. GTX 780
3. Radeon 7970 (or GTX 770)
4. Radeon 7950

Get the best you can afford. The 770 isn't really worth the price premium over the 7970 though, since they perform very similar . Exceptions include BF3, which you listed, which performs better on Nvidia.

Best value would be a Radeon 7950 overclocked like crazy though. Max OC vs Max OC it is nearly as fast as the 7970 and 770. But it cannot compare with the 780 and Titan, if you are willing to throw money at the problem.

I would get a HD 7950 or HD 7970. Either overclocked and you will be fine, a HD 7970 overclocked will do 1440p Ultra BF3 and Tomb Raider, I know my HD 7850' can.

Look at my sig, you will see HD 7850' means two!

My OC'd 780 (1204mhz) runs Bioshock Infinite at 60+ with everything turned up.

Less than $400: 7970 @1Ghz
~$400: 7970 Lightning BE or GTX 770 Lightning
~$700: 7990 or GTX 780 HOF/GTX 780 Lightning

GTX680 works fine for me at 2560*1440. Also remember the need for AA is very slim to none.

Whatever you choose I would suggest making your choice after the 25th of this month. If you go for a card now then HD7970 or gtx 780 would be my suggestions..

the crossfire fix drivers are still a WIP, and in any case, as mentioned, bet to wait till the 25th to see what new is coming.

Make sure not to get a card with less than 3gB ram if you plan on running 1440p.

I would get 7970 minimum if you want any eye candy at all at that resolution in new and upcoming games.

I also agree that you should wait for AMD's release of their new card on the 25th(ish) since the caliber of cards you would be looking at would definitely be affected by the performance and price of the new card.

OP if you want to buy right away and are on a tight budget get a HD 7950. if you can spend more around USD 400 - 500 I suggest you wait and check out Hawaii performance and pricing.

Frankly the only cards relevant to 1440P right now are the GTX 780 if price is not a concern and the HD 7950 if price IS a concern. 7950 will overclock to the slot just below the GTX 780, and the GTX 780 will overclock to someplace in the clouds.

And seriously, you need to list the rest of your computers specifications (most importantly CPU and RAM) to see if a high end gpu even makes sense.
