what versions are the xboxs at CC or BB

yeah i read that.

but i figured there would be a general pattern to what is sold at the stores.

im going to look later today at CC to see what the codes on the back are.

The only way to guestimate intelligently is to look at the manufacture date - I think if it's around Feb-March 04+, it's almost guaranteed to be a 1.6. (The 1.6's started hitting shelves I think around March or April) Anything below that should be a 1.5 more than likely.

There's no pattern, it all depends on how many they sell. Some CC/BB might have old stuff while others will have all new stuff.

lance makes a good point - you could always ask them if they have any in the back as well if all the ones on the shelf have relatively new manufacture dates

The newer modchips can handle the newer versions without a problem. I got a v1.5 Xbox a couple months ago, installed the Xecutuer 2.3b lite+ without a hitch. It has a Samsung drive that plays CD-Rs, and DVD+/-R without a problem.

The problem is with 1.6+, not < 1.6.

1.6 @ Wal-Mart and Gamestop.. you can pretty much guarentee that.

The last one I picked up was a 1.6 ... if you do plan on getting one there... go for the refurbed ones.
