It's been a while since I last did this and new service packs have come out for both. So Windows XP SP3 vs Windows Vista SP2? Which is better?

I personally prefer Vista now, but only because it feels new. XP just seems so outdated to me. I know it's faster, but I just like the look of Vista more than XP, so when I can run it... that's what I choose. Vista still doesn't work well in a VM, but hopefully that'll change as we get more powerful machines, or the Parallels/VMWare/VirtualBox teams really kick the coding up a notch.

Either way, Vista gets my vote in Bootcamp.

Never tried XP, but Vista has some well known issues, even with bootcamp.

#1. Much lower battery life

#2. Thermal issues. Fan doesn't speed up properly.

#3. "clicking" audio, audio stuttering

#4. Random freezing for a few second when on battery power only.

I don't know if these issues are present in XP as well. I'd assume they are, but it might be worth a look. Googe the issues I've listed, though, you'll see Vista on the Macbook has some pretty major bugs still.
