What version of Kinect do I get for a MacBook?

I have a MacBook Pro 15" with thunderbolt 3 outputs. I'm running OS X Sierra and have been looking up the compatibility of Kinect with Mac, and most of the information out there is about Windows, Xbox, or an older version of OS X. Has anyone here worked with Kinect and Mac? I'm using it for interactive video installation, and would love to know which version you all have used.

Thank you so much

Haven't worked with it myself, but I would definitely skew toward the last version of the Kinect for Windows kit (that is, the Xbox One sensor). The tricky bit is that Microsoft has dropped Kinect, so you're likely going to be hunting through auction sites and clearance inventories.

Two tips:

1. Gamestop has them for $39 used:

2. There adapter is going for as high as $200 online because it isn't sold anymore. There's a guy on eBay who mods them & also sells pre-modded versions (works on Xbox One/S/X plus Windows 10 using the Kinect SDK), which is where I got mine modified at:

Last I heard of was OpenKinect, but I don't think it's anywhere near turn-key for Mac:

If it's just raw data you're after, check out this article:

What kind of project are you doing? Dunno if it will be applicable, but Lumo Play (for Windows only, unfortunately) is really cool:
