I am looking for an Upright vacuum cleaner for about $50-$75. Something powerful, at least 10 amps. And has to have a couple of kinds of attachments. I was looking at epinions and it seems like all of the cheap ones suck. Anyone know of anything good?

i was asking my mom about them.
because i can use a new one as well.
she said you cant get one that is decent on the cheap.
she said my sister got one in the 50-75 dollar range and its a PoS.
its like with anything, i suppose...you get what you pay for.
granted you dont need to 200 dollar ubervac or anything, but i would be prepared to spend a bit more now and save time, hassle and replacement of a cheaper one.

I only live in an apartment. So i dont need something too spectacular. Just something that will get the job done. My carpet is very cheap and theres big balls of fuzz everywhere. Just need something that can pick it up.

Well , yes they do suck . (sorry couldnt help it:) Vacs that cheap wont work well for long . Turn one upside down and look at the mechanics of it . The cheapest will have one rubber drive band that turns a bar with brissels on it . If a sock or anything else gets suckep up the bar will stop and the drive belt will still turn and stink like burning rubber . Also the cheapos have plastic gears , not good .

I really dont want one with a rubber drive band. I used my friend's vacuum cleaner and the bar wouldnt move. All I smelled was burning rubber. I even took apart the vaccuum and cleaned EVERYTHING, but it still didnt work. Do you know of any vacuums in my price range that don't use rubber drive band for cheap plastic?

I bought the cheapest Boss with HEPA filter bags and such. That thing sucks better than my ex!

I used to have a bagless, and loved not having to buy bags, but the bags seem to just work better.

I bought a Hoover BreatheEasy vacuum a few months ago for about $45. Works a lot better than the POS Eureka Boss we had before.

I bought some Hoover Upright with Hepa filter at Costco for $90 and it sucked. Now suction power from the bottom and it completely jams up with lint.

Wasn't that the point of buying a vacuum in the first place? :p

Sorry for the late response

My vacuum is a Hoover Ultrawide w/Hepa filter.

Its a blue vacuum w/12A of power.

I think my $15 Shark 600 has more power than the Hoover though.

Its not very good. I would stay away from that model.

We have a Biselle. It cost about $100.00 and is bagless. All you have to do is rinse the filters out. We haven';t replaced a filter yet and we have had the vacume over a year. Some of the other bagless vacumes have filters that need to be replaced. Last I looked they were expensive to replace too.
