what USB3 ext drive to get and USB3 x1 card?

hi all,

I need something as backup 3.5" drive based.
I see some 3 TB external drives with USB3 interface from WD and Seagate, which one to get?

I need it to copy system images from time to time - that can be about 100 GB size and USB3 over USB2 can make big difference for this process - IMHO.
Also, my desktop doesn't have USB3 or eSATA, which USB3 card to get?
I think pci-x1 should be fine - isn't it?

First off, I'd recommend getting an internal (SATA) 3TB drive, and buying a cheap enclosure for it. WD, at least, is manufacturing external drives with non-standard internal interfaces now. That means if the PSU on the external dies, you can't just crack open the case and use the drive internally. People buy them as they're often cheaper than the internals, but beware, as they have junk/proprietary cables.
