what u think about the new AMD Hammer Processor

I don't know what you're asking. We all know it's going to be a kick-arse CPU. 😀 Only 6 more monthes. 😀 ( So they say )

We'll know all about it when it comes now. But with the attention span of a 5 year old, 9 months away is just too far for me.

I think it is way too early to tell....Amd has kept still to much secret about it...Anandtech reported they were only running at 800mhz I believe...

I want to hear things like this...

1)heat spreader or theramal throttling...get away from jet engine computers
2) increase l2 cache
3)sse2 compilers which I believe was said to be

Until test run it to see what the advantage of a 64bit processor is in running mostly 32bit applications I cant say.....At intels ramping speed I hope it is a real performance boost...Intel is likely to 2.8 ghz by end of year and I don't think amd can spot intel 1ghz and still compete with a moderate 10percent performance gain like xp's to tbirds...

we can see heat issues gone can bring in many customers...we can see l2 cache upgrade can add 10-15percent in performance alone (p4's and tualitan chips)...we can see intel 10-15 percent boost on sse2 encoded applications...

Now if they could kick via in the arse and get them to make decent chipset or make there own and force via to get better or get out then we would be talking about a helluva advancment in its own right...
