Title and poll are fairly self-explanatory. A co-worker and I were discussing regional differences, and this question came up. She puts Pennsylvania in the midwest camp. I completely disagree, and feel it's not even a borderline case like Kentucky.

Illinois, Texas, Mass

PA is obviously not in the midwest, not at all, it's a north atlantic state, both in location and in culture.

Indiana, NC (b/c that's where I'm from), and Connecticut, or Mass, or New Hampshire.

Illinois, Georgia, Massachusetts. But Ohio, Michigan and Mississippi were sleepers (I immediately associate New England with Mass, maybe because I lived there briefly).

Considering Pennsylvania very nearly touches the Atlantic Ocean, I'm going to say it's not part of the midwest using any definition. Your coworker is geographically-impaired.

Buy your retarded coworker a map of the United States. Or even better a map of the world since she's probably even more ignorant about that.

Its the north east right...so I guess new england. Thats why I always thought of it as.

I voted for mass, because even though I live in Vermont I know no one thinks of this state first.

New England is a region of the United States located in the northeastern corner of the country, consisting of the modern states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut

I'm with you there. Sometimes I wish we could just kick Massachusetts out of NE. They give us a bad rep.

Illinois (mostly because I've lived here all my life)
The South (Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi all come to mind right away.)
New England Clam Chowder, I don't like it as much as Manhattan Clam Chowder, so I voted New York.
That said, New York is not technically part of New England as far as I know.
