What types of PC cards are availabel for laptops?

I know you can get wireless ones, USB/firewire, or other ports one, hard drives, sound cards. Any others worth mentioning or having. I am thinking of getting a firewire one, since my laptop does not have firewire. But my other computers do, so I may not really need it.
