What types of insects pollinate spring flowers?

It is Spring in Chicago and there are blooming flowers everywhere. I noticed that there are very few insects at all during this time of year, which is somewhat confusing since I thought budding flowers were meant to attract pollinating insects like bees. So what types of insects are pollinating these early bloomers?

Honeybees have really taken a hit from all the insecticides agriculture lays down. When I was a kid, I remember all the white dutch clover flowers in my parents' yard. They would attract enough bees that stepping on them when walking through the yard barefoot was a once or twice a year thing for everyone in the house.

I don't see that kind of clover around much anymore. Just about everyone's yard has dandelions here, but everything else is chemi-lawn treated greenery.

I kept 2-3 hives maybe 8 years ago, but they died out from starvation or mites...I'm not really sure. You could always look into starting an apiary.

a lot of plants use wind pollination rather than insects.
