what type of TV cable system type thing is the best?

I pay a ridiculus amount for regular cable in LA and I have never had anything but regular cable, but i hear there are some other cheap options now. anyone care to share? i really dont know the differences between the different systems so anything can help. I am looking to pay as close to $50 a month as possible

It's not cable, but I've seen some satellite dish networks offer $20 a month packages for a base of around 70 stations or so. $30 a month will get you about 120 stations.
