Tanzanian Death Weaver. probably came over on a crate of bananas. It spreads an extremely potent neurotoxin aeromatically through tiny pores in its abdomen. you may be dead already...

chances are it lost that leg trying to capture prey it couldnt handle. the body and pedipalps arent the right shape to be a recluse IIRC.

Well, it does show a similar size, coloring, and eye pattern to the brown recluse, though it is fairly far from it's natural distribution. Oh, and all spiders, barring two families, are poisonous.

It is definitely a brown recluse. Which are not tiny, by the way, except shortly after leaving the egg. Nasty sting on that, but won't bite you unless cornered.

Spiders are not "poisonous", toadstools are "poisonous". Spiders, snakes and scorpions are "venomous". All spiders are venomous to some degree although very few have venom that is dangerous to humans. The Brown Recluse is one of the ones that's dangerous, but that isn't a brown recluse.

It certainly doesn't really look like a recluse from the (lack of violin shaped) coloring of the thorax and the fairly translucent legs. I can't tell from your picture the number of eyes on your spider there, which is the best way to identify. Recluses always have 3 pairs of eyes (6 total) whereas most other spiders have 8 eyes. Hard to get close enough to tell, tho.

Recluses are very fast for their size, but not aggressive at all, and prob. wouldn't bite you unless you stepped on it or got it trapped against your skin somehow and put pressure on it. Result of bite could range anywhere from almost no reaction at all to complete necrosis of the bitten tissue which can be severe enough to cause loss of a hand/foot if bitten in extreme cases.

So in other words, better safe than sorry :D
