I have a 128MB DIMM (more about that soon) and I want to add a Crucial 256MB DIMM (I have an ASUS P2B mobo). I took out my 128MB DIMM to see what type I have, but I can't figure it out. I know that it's unbuffered 3.3V (P2B won't take anything else), but here's what I found: the module has 3 stickers on one side. One says "MA 03/99", another says "PC100", and the last one says "XR-DIM168/128SD-100" on top, and has a barcode (6 21789 00812 1) on the bottom. The side with the stickers has a tiny chip in one corner that says:
"ATMEL 839
24C02N
SC27 8".
Every memory chip says:
"9908 1-1
MT 48LC8M8A2
TG -8E 8".
The side with no stickers has a blank chip spot in the middle that says "U18" at the bottom, and one one side of the circuit board I found "94V-0" and "MADE IN USA (C) 1997".

The Crucial module I want to buy is "SDRAM, PC100 ? CL=2 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 8ns ? 3.3V ? 32Meg x 64" (256MB), part number CT32M64S4D8E (http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.asp?imodule=CT32M64S4D8E). What type of RAM do I have, and will it be compatible with the module I want to buy?

You have PC100 SDRAM. I would presume it is CAS3 - not CAS2 - but the performance difference doesn't matter unless you're wanting to overclock your bus speed. On another note, I'm pretty sure the P2B will NOT accept a 256 MB stick but what you have will definitely work with two 128 MB sticks from Crucial.

I already knew it was PC100 (it's on the price quote, I have a 100MHz system bus, it's on the stickers...), but I wanted to know who made it and if it's compatible with the Crucial module I want to buy. I would be very surprised if my mobo didn't support 256MB modules, because it has 3 RAM slots and says it supports up to 768MB of RAM.
