what type of power supply for my video card

hi guys

i bought my video card saying min 400watt power supply

my sys came with 200watt supply

i asked my sys vendor to chainge the power supply


he said what there is no diff between 200w or 400w

because both will give you the required dc output


pls help me urgent and the diff between 200w and 400w(or more)

I currently have a BFG 6800GT OC and it specified a 350Watt powersupply which is working perfectly fine with everythin listed in my system. Get a good powersupply and you should be fine. Don't go for a cheapo one.

Have your system vendor look into Ohm's Law...
Voltage (I am assuming that was what he/she meant by 'same dc output'), and current are two very different things. The wattage is referring to the amount of DC power that can be supplied at their respective voltages. There is usually a sticker on the PSU that tells the amperage that can be delivered on each rail.
