What type of modem...

what type of modem do i need so i can make calls from my computer? also, what software is available to record those calls going through the modem? what i am doing is perfectly legal in my state and i have been using an old tape recorder with one of the little radio shack suction cup mics that goes on the back of the phone, but with the amount of calls that i need to record, i would like to name and date them quickly and have the files easily accesible to make a cd.

You'll need a Modem that supports Voice and there's quite a few Programs out there to answer calls (Supervoice comes to mind)...If you want to record the whole conversation than (more than 15mins) you may have to add another proggie

thanks, i looked at supervoice and it doesn't state a length of conversation maximun, have you used it?

If you have a souncard that supports record what yoiu hear that should work and as far as Supervoice...I can record up to 15 minutes after it picks up the call...

Edit=You can also Try This

I would reccomend an External Hardware Serial (not USB) with Full Duplex but the best deal over there is This one and there seems to be an External onen as well...
Good Luck

On This modem, do i need to plug anything into those 2 3.5mm connectors?

You won't have to connect any 3.5's as the PC will read and install drivers for the Modems audio device...then the software takes over
You can download the User Manual and Data sheet on that Modem here
