So I am going to get a i5 3570K with an Asus P8Z77-V PRO. I would like to get 16gb of ram and am wondering what type I should get ie. 4x4gb or 2x8gb, what speed, and timing.

I have read that there isn't much noticeable differences in memory over 1600 but would like to get the fastest ram for around 120.

I would get 2x8GB sticks for like 50 to 70 dollars. Its soo cheap now, you might as well go 32GB lol.

On avg each 8GB is now 16 dollars I read on news. Soo Im figuring you get a G SKILL kit or Samsung Kit , Def 2x8GB kit. If you want lower latency then grab 1600Mhz kit and underclock it while your tighten the timings for example. I would grab the 2400Mhz kit and take it to 2000Mhz with 7-7-7 , thats pretty low I know 8 8 8 would do.

You should buy a 2x8GB kit... Mushkin 997069

If I were shopping for high quality memory, I would use the following parameters as a guide...

* DDR3 rated at 1.5v or lower
* DDR3 rated at the lowest CAS I could afford
* DDR3 rated at the highest clock speed I could afford
* Limit the scope of my purchease to G.Skill, Mushkin, Corsair XMS or Crucial (non-Ballistix)

While not wavering on the voltage point, I would balance the other issues with my budget.

Remember, my goal is not pure "benchmarking" performance, but simply finding the highest quality memory I can afford. ^_^
The only reason I pay a premium for low latency, high speed, low voltage memory is...
Quality and quality alone.
1.5v is the JEDEC DDR3 voltage standard.
Stay with 1.5v or less if you can afford it..

I am just kind of confused since that samsung ram has a CL of 11 but low voltage. What is more important for "faster" ram. Does increasing the voltage on the samsung negate the fact that the CL is 11?

Right now I'm running some at 1866 MHz - settings are 9 - 9 - 9 - 24 - 37 ; 1T

1.35 volts

The ratings for the Samsung are conservative, from what I have seen, a lot of users are running it faster than I am, also at decent settings.

My knowledge on this is pretty limited so I don't want to comment much more than that, hopefully someone more familiar with ram can answer your questions.
