I'm thinking of going dual for a while now. I'm thinking of getting a ATI 9800pro with a 17'' and a Dell 2005fp. Is this a good config? What type of dual monitor setup do you guys prefer for maximum productivity?

Ideally I'd like a big 21 inch CRT to play games on... and a nice, low power 19 inch LCD for everything else. I just don't have the money for even one of those, let alone both. :)

High-quality 20" CRT at 1400x1050 for coding, whatever quality 1600x1200 for monitoring stuff to the right.

I have a 19" CRT and a 15" CRT, though the 15" isn't usually active.
If I went proper dual, it would probably be dual 17" LCD's (or dual 19" LCD if they made some 1600x1200 ones).

42" plasma and a 17" trinitron, not much for productivity but it makes for a nice media center setup. ;)

I would recommend either get 2 same brand LCD/CRT, or two same size crt/lcd. When I put my 2005fpw and my 21" LCD together, LCD's brightness just killed the CRT brightness. Also, I can't work when I'm using 60mhz on my crt. So, by using 2 of the same type monitor would eliminate the problem.

I run my plasma at 60hz along with my trinitron at 85hz, I don't see why you would have to run your CRT at 60hz.

How did you set that up? I've a 6800gt. I put my lcd at left and crt on the right. So, my lcd is the primary display and crt is the 2nd display.

22" Viewsonic and a 19" Mitsubishi CRTs. I just use a cheap PCI card for the secondary monitor.

nvm, I found out that I need to setup my drivers as Dual View. But still, the brightness of 2 different monitor is kind of disturbing. My eyes are always focus on the brighter 2005 lcd.
