She doesn't need anything too fancy just something to play with, probably around $600 Canadian, I was wondering what brands were good. I saw a sony cybershot dsc-p7, and it looked to me like a very nice camera, but I don't really know alot about digital cameras, and there are only a few stores in the area that sell them. I want it to be 3.2 megapixels or so, and would appreciate any input about what camera you have or what brands to stay away from. A few of my friends have Fujifilm Cameras and they say they are great, and the the sonys are sh!t, and a few others say that fujifilm is sh!t, get sony... and I have heard a few things about canon and other cameras, but the fujifilm and sony arguements are the only that come to mind cause they had a nice long arguement about it. Well I appreciate the help. Oh I also saw the Minolta Dimage s404, and it also looked pretty nice.

Canon make the best digicams, in my opinion, but I'd just buy her a Kodak as they're easy to use. If you buy her something too complicated she may be put off and it'll end up collecting dust.

You can pick up a Nikon coolpix 4500 for around $400 US with the rebate. I recommend it highly.

Take her to the store, ask her to try out different digicams, buy one she is comfortable using.

If you buy an older parent or grandparent a fancy system/computer and they don't know HOW TO USE IT, then they won't.

So get her something she is comfortable using and will enjoy.

I'm telling you right now: If you buy her a Canon A70 she'll seldom use it. It's an awesome camera, but it might be too intimidating for her. Kodak cameras might not rate with the people on this forum, but even a retarded monkey could figure out how to use one.

The Sony is also great, maybe easier to use than the Canon A60/70.

"Kodaks are great. Everyone use Kodak . . . Everyone use Kodak . . . Everyone use . . . "

;) (See my For Sale sig.) Seriously, I suggest a user friendly digicam. How savvy is Mom with the computer? That may also factor into how fancy a digicam you want to get. My grandparents have thought of getting a digicam, but their limited computer knowledge would render it useless.

Shes not that old so I can teach her how to use it without much difficulty. Oh and she is not a retarded monkey... I was thinking the sony camera cause I have played with one for a few minutes and it was pretty easy to use/figure out. Also because one of my friends said that model (DSC-P7) is the best one to get. So it doesn't matter how hard it is to use cause if she doesn't like it, my dad will use it, my little sister will, or I will.
