What type of CAT5 cable to buy???

I need to buy CAT5 cables for DSL line. I need to buy cables for outside coming into the building and cables for internal. I don't know which type of cables to buy. I've heard this, can anyone explain this to me?

STP line
Plenum cable
solid wire
stranded
UTP

Cables are for internet sharing, file sharing, a server service within networked computers (LAN) for six computers.
Please recommend me which cables to buy. Thanks

STP is probably an unnecessary expense. UTP should work just fine for what you want.

Pluenum is also an unnecessary expense. It is mostly used when fire codes dictate something other than PVC coated cable.

Go with a solid core.

Home Depot has Cat5e for about 55.00/1000lft.

ditto. I have the home depot cat 5 (non e), and it is working fine for patch cables and inwall use.

e=expanded (I think) or extended (I can't remember). Cat5e can do 1000Mbps or 1Gbps. It's the next step up from Cat5.
