what type of bug?

it flies, and i think it was flashing green last night! i hope it was, otherwise i have much more serious things to worry about. it doesnt look like any firefly i have ever seen before...

It's a wasp/hornet of some sort, it might be able to sting, but I think the pointy thing in rear is for lying eggs, probably in some larvae.

well if it flashes a green light then it is a firefly.
