I've heard so much about the the execution of McVegin who is responsible for the bombing. I've also seen the picture, half of the building was demolished, what did he use anyway?

Nitrous based.. I believe they used fertilisers (ammonia based) with HCl and lots of news paper to make the bomb.

I hear he just got a few barrels, many bags of ammonia nitrate from a hardware store, and many gallons of disel fuel. He mixed them before he got to the fed building. He lit the fuse before he got in front of the building. He parked the truck, started running. BOOM

According to McVeigh:

13 plastic drums each containing 350 pounds of ammonium nitrate and 20 pounds of nitromethane, a racing fuel. That would put the bomb's size at just over 4,800 pounds, making it about 20 percent larger than the government theorized.

The bomb did not work as planned..the entire building was supposed to come down, but it turns out that a u-haul is not a good forceplate for a shockwave of that size.. so much of the destructive energy was dissipated before it hit the building. But it was a good plan considering it was their (mcveigh, nichols) first large bomb.

What is the u-haul that you referred to? And what does the forceplate do?

u-haul is the type of vehicle (like a small moving truck) the bomb was left in... force plate im not so sure of

I would imagine a "forceplate" directs the blast in a certain way, much like "shaped"charges (dynamite that explodes in a certain direction) do

Good thing it didn't make for a good forceplate, some moron at U-Haul would probably advertise under that. "Our trucks make for better forceplates then the competition and we have lower beds, so you won't strain your knees and back lifting those 55 gallon drums into the truck....."
