What type of apps will DDR RAM be most helpful in?

I'm thinking of upgrading to DDR SDRAM in January but would it be worth it? I'm primarily a gamer but I also do a lot of CAD/CAM. And possibly some 3D animation in the near future.

Should I wait and get DDR SDRAM when it comes out or should I load up on PC133 RAM now? Thanks. 🙂
 
It will be helpful in programs pushing a lot of data through the RAM. CAD/CAM and 3D animation would definitely be those kinds of programs.

I forgot to mention that a lot of the CAD that I do is 3D solid and surface modeling; which would eat up even more bandwidth. I'll wait for some benchmarks and go from there. 🙂
 
Absolutley. I don't expect DDR SDRAM to be comparitivly, that big of an imporvement for games, but in CAD/CAM and 3D stuff I think DDR SDRAM will make a fairly heavy impact. Though it should be a decent performance in jump in games, and actually when newer games come out it will probably help even more.
