what type are the screws that screw fans into heatsinks?

i got a fan size converter and realized my long fan screws wouldn't work since the duct mount holes aren't 25mm deep like a fan🙁 so what screws would i look for at say home depot? need short short versions of my current screws.

bring them in, you just have to match screw diameter and TPI (threads per inch). the floor associate there will be of great help there.

of course, you could also find a nut that will fit on the screw, screw it on, and saw the screw to the desired length. then, screw the nut off. (the nut serves to straighten out the threads when you unscrew it)

They are often self-tapping screws unless the HS has drilled and tapped screw holes - that would use std. machine screw threads.
I used some pan head sheet metal screws and standard fan-mounting screws on my 60/80 adapters. Always better to get phillips head or torx heads to privent slipping.

coolermasters don't screw into the fins with self tapping. they have aluminum shrouds with screw holes. seems they use #4 machine screws with fine screw grove. damn home depot only had rough screw groove, i had no choice so i just screwed by force 🙂 it worked, can't complain. little disaspointed at home depot selection thoough

Yeah, screw Home Depot (sorry, can't do anything about that pun) and their selection of screws and grommets. I couldn't find any rubber washers/grommets, but my local hardware store had a metric buttload of them.

Got a question, on the rubber grommets, what size does one need for the mounting a case fan and does it go between the top of the fanhole and the case?
