I have a PVR500.
Hauppauge is as good as it gets.
The dual tuners are a must or you can't watch another channel while you're recording.
It's a big deal when you want to watch two football games at once.
So basically its a toss up between the hauppauge cards and the ATI Elite. Do these cards usually count as a qualifying hardware item to use to purchase MCE 2005?
PVR-150 is a great card...I've had mine for a while now and have had no problems with it. Also, it works very well in Linux if you ever decide to try MythTV or something similar.
Excellant point rainsford. I had always considered myth TV, just never got in to linux enough, and if I am gonna buy MCE, then I doubt I would go with myth unless MCE is horrible, which i doubt, but you make a great point.
I have/had the PVR-500. It was great, probably about as good as it gets for tuner cards. Unfortunately I think I fubared mine with a crappy coax cable that sent some static through the line and (i think) shocked the card. Now I have to get a new one.
I gotta agree, Hauppage rocks. I had a Pinnacle a few years ago and upgraded to a Hauppage PVR-150. Obvious performance jump, but the Hauppage card and software just seems to be made better.
Also don't forget to check out DScaler for viewing. Nice piece of software. Good luck!
I had the ati e-home wonder cards and the drivers were horrible. I have 0 problems with 2 pvr-150MCE's and an HDTV wonder installed. You will not be disappointed with Windows Media Center. I would hate to change to anything else now.
