Hello all!

I was recently going thru some of my miscellaneous computer equipment and found that I have a load of older hardware.. stuff like EDO 72pin Ram (whole bag of it  ) alot of ISA modems and network cards.. etc... I don't know if it is just better to send it to the dump and recycle it or is there a need for some of this stuff somewhere.. ? What do you all do with your older stuff?

Thanks!

I always think I am going to use it but the reality is I don't want that old crap anymore that is why I upgraded it to begin with! In other words I have been tossing it.

There was an article or a news report about excess hardware dumping and how it was causing problems for us. I just junk it by throwing it away in the trash can since it can't be recycled but you should try and eBay it first to see if you can get rid of it (even if you end up breaking even).

i hang on to everything too. :) I have boxes of old comp stuff in the basement, much to my wife's chagrin.

I usually try listing it here or on ebay., if it doesn't sell, it gets chucked eventually. :)

A lot of people like to go to Goodwill (or similar) place and put together a perfectly good internet/MS Word computer for ~$25. Donate your parts, let some person with a hobby or some poor child who needs to type a school report have the parts. Plus you let some handicapped person work as a cashier instead of leaching off of society.

Basically: anything but the trash pile.

throwing it out is bad for the environment. personally, i give it to my school, because the teacher in charge of computer stuff has tons of junk, and once in a while, he calls in the people who recycle computer equipment.

For edo ram sticks I like to give them out as geekish key chains. Friends usually get a kick out of them.
