i have just downloaded and started using SETI@HOME cli 3.0 and it looks rather plain. What do i use to monitor its progress and stats...is this what SETI driver and SETIspy is for. What do you recommend?

SetiSpy & SetiDriver is your best bet.:) Since your new to TA I'll just suggest you try all the links in my sig.

You can find the daily team stats at Nexus9's as well as at Orange Kid's. BTW Orange Kid's site has links to the programs you need.:)

Edit: SetiDriver will allow you to download several wu's at once. So if the seti server or your net connection goes down you'll still have more wu's to crunch and your computer will not be sitting idle waiting on another wu.

SetiSpy provides you with good info and stats without using much cpu power.

Both of these programs need to run all the time. Good luck and if you have any problems please post them.:)

okay, i just installed seti driver, so i should ALSO use seti spy? when i am done processing a work unit, does it automatically report it to the server or do i have to manually update it? also in seti driver what should my maximum process and desired cache be set to for best performance?

Use SETIspy if you want detailed info about the WU you are doing ,eg sky position of WU ,any strong gaussians etc.It will also give you a progress % bar for the WU.
If you want the SETI CLi client itself to show its progress then add -verbose to the command line in the shortcut.
I'm afriad I've never used SETI driver so I can't help you  ,I'm sure someone will soon though :)

Yes use SetiSpy also. You don't have to but I think you'll like it.

Open SetiDriver and you'll see a box that says auto transmit check it if you want it to automatically connect when it's through with the wu.

Your maximum process should be at 1 unless you have more that one cpu in your machine.

I'd set the desired cache size about 5 days worth of wu'. If you don't know how many a day you'll be doing just set it to 6 or so.:)

Edit: Wow Assim1!!! This is one of the rare times we didn't give the exact same response.;)

so the desired cache size is the amount of WU it downloads?...if i set it to 1 wont it get one WU, finish it, then transmit the results then download another WU. is this of people who dont have a constant connection to the internet?

Even if you have a 24/7 connection its still a good idea to have at least a 3day cache of WU's ,sometimes (like currently) the SETI servers have problems ,which can mean you aren't able to get hold of WU's for a day or 2.

I like to use SETI driver with SETI Watch and have driver set to create the watch.csv file. That way, I only have to fire up watch when I want to check results. Works GREAT!

Nick - Make sure you follow the performance optimazation recommendations too, such as, screen blanking. I also recommend using the v 3.0 CLI client and not v3.03 until we're forced to change. It's must faster.
