Decision Made:

I am going to go with a nice set of speakers and I nice sound card. Here they are.

CyberAcoustic 5.1 Speakers
Creative X-Fi

What I got like $300 coming to me for my B-Day. I could probably get $130 for this 17" LCD Monitor and mabey $20 for these Logitech X-530 Speakers.

That gives me $450 for nice speakers and a nice monitor.
If I choose this option which componets should I get?
Keep In mind I don't have a sound card so mabey throw one in there.

Or A new Graphics card would be nice. I could get mabey $100 for the one I have now.
$400 for a nice new one, or $280 for a new one and $120 for speakers.

Or new Mobo, CPU, and RAM combination?

Too many choices. Someone help me. I'm leaning toward the monitor and speakers. Any recommendations?

I'd say you're on the right track with monitor and speakers. My Klipsch v.2-400s, Z-680s, Sony G400, and Dell 2001FP are among the best purchases I've ever made for my PC. Really, if you don't skimp on the A/V stuff you'll be happy! Trust me!

And forget that Audigy2 for $65!!! For just a bit more you could get a used X-Fi which is an awesome card. Or you could shop around for an Audigy 2 for $30-$40 on the forums.

You're not getting $130 for a used 17" LCD unless you have an idiot friend or something.

In any case, you don't need a soundcard. Get a decent 20.1" widescreen LCD (The Viewsonic one, don't remember product code) in the $300-350ish area as well as a $100 headphones (Sennheiser HD280's) , which will outperform any speakers in that price range.

You don't even need $100 headphones to outperform speakers in that price range. Beyer DT231s and Senn HD 555s will also, and I got both sets for right around $100. 😀

150 dollars for new 19" lcd these days. your 17" is old.. used..obsolete and below entry level and sliding. its worth maybe 50 bucks

speakers > soundcard big time. don't be a tool for creative labs, soundcard tech has been dead in the water for years, no point in overpaying for basically no real innovation or improvement. and yes, pairing a 80 dollar speaker system with a higher end sound card? wtf are you thinking. you need to spend 2-3x that amount and you'll still not be limited by onboard sound, 80 dollar speakers are garbage. its like buying an x2 processor and pairing it with a geforce mx400 and trying to play fear😛 the bare minimum for taking advantage of a nicer sound card is 300 dollars on speakers
and cyberaccoustics? wtf are you thinking... cancel that order if u have any sense.

If you don't game or watch many movies, then their is no good reason to get a 5.1 speaker system. All mp3s are only 2 channels. I recommend the Chaintech AV710 or SPDIF output > Sherwood reciever at Circuit City > Onix X-LS Bookshelf speakers. Thats $275 for a great speaker setup.

well first, what components do you have already (so we know what you're replacing)...
1. nobody buys 17' lcd's anymore the rec. minimum is 19. cyberacoustics and logitech aren't considered 'nice' speakers...
2. you can get a nce $350 widescreen monitor like the viewsonic vx2025wm ($330 ZZF) and spend the rest on some great sounding klipche 2.1's (best in class).
3. no need for sound card yet.. wait till your next upgrade.. sound card doesn't give much better sound quality than onboard (and i'm using audigy 2 zs).

ok i guess i wont upgrade anything as for everyhting i have is ok and workable. Mabey I will just save it and combine christmas, and selling my computer now and get a top of the line system. Should get bout $2,800 for everything combined
