what can I upgrade? I dont plan on upgradeing CPU and MOBO till I can get a DUAL T-bird system, my video is goon enough for me, ill upgrade it when I upgrade the CPU, But I need a new toy to play with, any suggestions?

thats a waste of money, I dont care how many FPS I get. I dont have problems with any games I play everything seems fast.

If upgrading your video card is a waste of money in your opinion, then I don't see anything that could be worth it in that system.

If it were me, I'd change the video card first, and then maybe the cpu. (but since slot-a is pretty much dead, waiting seems the more reasonable thing to do)

I agree with sugadaddy. You're video card appears to be the largest bottleneck of you're system, and since you seem to be getting good gaming performance than that would suggest no need for upgrading

i 3rd the video card suggestion everything else is more then capible of handling any of todays software handily. If you just want a toy its a sure cure and can be used in your duel ddr system later.

you ask for what to upgrade but you say you won't upgrade the components in dire need of it. 🙂
hows about you get some expensive scsi stuff, that oughta be fun.

thats an aging video card. with the GTS running ~$150, thats by far your best option. after that would be a faster cpu. after that would be a scsi 10k hard drive

Got nice monitor and I do have a DVD drive, upgradeing video card isnt much fun, take out old card, put in the new. It wont make my computer work faster, I spend less then 20% of time playing games.

im my opinion the best thing you can do right now is to push your FSB up a nothch, and get that Athlon oc'ed a bit, will increase overall sytem speed and should still be as stable.

Get rid of the IDE RAID, it's just sitting there eating CPU power. IDE RAID is never a good solution in my opinion (nothing new, i have explained it sooo many times before) if you want RAID, get SCSI RAID, and if you want performance get SCSI, if HDD performance doesn't matter much, get a single IDE, but IDE RAID, nope.

It's still a pretty modern system. What exactly are you wanting to do faster? Photoshop? CAD? You can only type so fast in Word. 😉

Games are the #1performance drain.

I totally agree. My customers ask me for a cheap computer "it's just for gaming", and when i tell them that gaming is what those fast computers are for, their reply is "but, i thought you only needed a fast machine if you were surfing the net"... My job is not an easy one.

A: upgrade yourself?
how fast do you type? Stop twiddling those thumbs and get practising with Mavis Beacon.
do you have a good swivel chair with castors so you can get from the external drives to the CD rack fast enough?
try licking your screen for static, does me good personally🙂

This thread is bogus and seems to be some form of weird flame bait and a waste of time.

On the off chance that it isn't, ship it to me 1 day Federal Express. It won't go any faster. 😛
