I will be moving in to a new villa in September in Bahrain, a whole 15 days or so before Ramadan. I plan on having a bunch of friends and such over for the day and to prepare a meal for them as well. Most of my friends out here are local Bahraini's so I want to make a few things they may not have had before....

I am a fairly accomplished cook, so if there is a recipe, I will have no problem making it, but I will probably tweak it before I cook it! That said, the local restaurants have just about everything in terms of quality, the hole-in-the wall thai place is excellent, to the 50 or so 5-star places around town, and variety, arabic, asian, indian, african, frence, italian, mexican, seafood, etc. We have a good chuck of the fast food places out here too, BK, DQ, McD, Hardees, Etc (all of which deliver too!).

Anyway, any suggesting from the anandtech crowd on possible dishes to serve? I thinking about 20-30 people will be there.... maybe as many as 40. Thanks!

I know none of them have actually had apple pie before...

Yes, pork and bacon for this area of the world..... I have cooked Pork Loins a few times, and the locals have eaten it, yes knowing it was pork. :)

Oh yes, keep in mind that it is about 130F here during the day (once you factor in the humidity). Daytime highs are in the 110 and up.... Drops to 90F or so at night....

And I was thinking of possibly grilling something, but I'm not sure what, I like the more exotic/fancy things, so I would probably go for a smoked turkey, brisket, or lamb...
