I'm thinking its time to reformat the 'ol computer again, but this time i want to do something different. i want to have a large partition (maybe 30-35gb) as my main windows partition (running 2k) for programs and stuff, but i also want a smaller partition (5-10gb) running a more exotic os, like linux or something. can you recommend a cool os (thats free) that i could run?

you only have to get the first one, but some options require the second cd, so do the first two (install disc #1 and install disc #2) or if you are feeling frisky, get #3 as well
you won't need #4/#5 for a while , they are the source cd's

How do you go about installing linux once you have a partition to put it in. Do you download an iso? If so how do you install from the iso?

i think you burn a cd using the .iso, and use that cd as a boot disk

I just installed RH8.0 without any problems on this 2K/XP machine. Just MAKE SURE you install any MS OS' first, then install Linux last. If not, MS will wipe out the Linux boot.

You can use ISObuster and extract them all to your HD then burn to a CD if you want.
