What to improve on

I wanted to go with AMD, but had a better deal with p3.4 ht.

My comp:
p3.4 ht
Intel 915p
Ati X700 <--- only PCIe at Compusa (hookup deal)
512 DDr2 Dual PNY = ( Need more and rather have namebrand
Had 250 gb ATA100, but finally traded in for Maxtor 250 gb SATA 16meg
Dunno much about Raid 0/1 so i just loaded it straight with XPpro pack2
Had smartpower350 but upgraded to smartblue 480 (antec)

I want to upgrade memory, but next step is almost $170 more
Video, waiting til compusa gets 6800gt pcie

Am I moving in right direction ?

oh yea, my factory fan does seem to get loud on gaming (obviously) but upgrading Processor fan or video fan to anything else worth it? or is that fan noise just expected. . . I got a decent (brand: Quiet) which doesn't seem to flow air that well, my room is always kinda hot (doesn't help either) so I also plan on getting a new case, when mola permitts. .

Yeah I would upgrade the memory first. Video card is fine for now, other things might be more important like proper cooling if heat is an issue.

Should I upgrade Brand or just to 1gb ddr2 dual? It's almost $400 at compusa, I know its cheaper at newegg.com, but I would end up with $200 credit at compusa (they don't price match online, nor do they carry anything else, not even kingston)

When you include the cost of the DDR2, would an A64 really have been any more expensive?

The ram definitely. If it's too much to buy now, maybe settle for brand name 512 and pick up another 512 when prices drop?
