I know of a gent who had a paintball outing bachelor party and picked up the tab for the day plus bought a basic but decent paintball starter kit for each of the groomsmen to keep. The nice thing is they still get together to play a few times each year when the weather permits which turned out to be a nice tradition for keeping in touch after the wedding.
I picked up nice cufflinks for my groomsmen the same place I had my wife's wedding band made and they loved them. I disagree with the "nobody wears cufflinks" statement elsewhere in the post, but I'd agree it's an audience specific gift. If a guy doesn't wear button down collared shirts much he probably won't be as enthusiastic about them. Customization is nice but not required - getting the guys matching jerseys from your college sports team or something along those lines can have as much sentimental value for the right guys as engraved watches might for another.
I like the idea of combining a useable gift with a luxury consumable like booze. The engraved flask + good bottle of their favorite liquor or engraved humidor plus some stogies were great ideas in this thread.
Bottom line - the best gift depends on your budget and the interests of you and the groomsmen. Just don't cheap out, go with one less floral arrangement if you have to cut a corner but don't skimp on the people you're thanking for being a significant part of your life who've shelled out dough for their tux, hotel room, travel expenses, etc... to be a part of your day.
