My sister insists on getting me an actual gift this year instead of cash like in previous years.

I have no needs. I make decent $. Whatever i need in her price range i bought already. (and thx to the Hot Deals forum, i bought stuff i didnt quite need.)

Make suggestions on what a nerd (age 30) should ask for (less that $50).

if you really dont need anything ask her to donate the amout she would have spent on you to a charity
 
Don't ask for anything. It's her stupid idea to get a gift instead of just handing you the money. In the spirit of real gift-giving, tell her to suprise you. She should know you well enough to get you something that you'll enjoy, but normally wouldn't buy for yourself.
 
sorry, but i view gift certificates equivalent to cash.

also- "something i wouldn't buy myself" -> if i wouldnt buy it myself, why in the hell would i want it then?
