What to expect out of a P4 3.0C?

Hello,

I have just bought a P4 setup, component by component and my P4 3.0C is en route right now. Since I have been in the AMD camp for 3 years, I have been a little "off" regarding P4 overclocking. What I am hoping is to hit 3500MHz out of my P4 3.0C. Is this feasible? I have bought the Thermalright SP-94 and a Panaflo 92mm medium speed (48CFM). I will apply AS5 and possibly lap the CPU and heatsink if the chances of succes are low (to hit 3.5GHz). At 3.5GHz, I will be able to run my memory in synch with the FSB, at 233MHz.

What do you guy think about this?

It all depends on the cpu, some will do 3.5 without a hitch/ some won't. Some of the more recent 1's will do 3750 or higher, like I said, all depends on the Actual cpu.

yeah big lar is right, some guy in the forum was talking about how his 2.8 went to 3.9 or something crazy like that. it's just the individual cpu.

Don't forget to let us know how well you do. There is a lot to play with re: FSB, RAM timings and ratios.

I got an AbitIC-7g, 2x256MB PC3500 and a P4 2.80c last week. It manages 3.4Ghz but with my RAM underclocked at the 5:4 ratio (so I am working on maximizing "timings" to get optimum performance.

Of the 2 or 3 I have tried, I would say somewhere between 3.4 and 3.5 - IMHO

luck of the draw. I had one that did 3600 mhz max running p95 for 24hrs. stable, and another I just received today that is at 3750 and just breaking her in w/ p95 now. I have a feeling this one will see 3800+. Usually if they run past the first few hours of p95, the rest is just watching the clock to get in a stable 24hr run. good luck!!
