Hi,

I'm making a fileserver/homeEnt. Center. I would like to know what kind of picture quality and resolution could I expect from GeForce2 MX? I used my laptop on TV and it works great and it has i815 chip. Although I only get 640x480 trough a yellow input since TV has no S-Video. I'm thinking of geting a new TV with S-Video and I would also like to know is there any TVs that will do 800x600 or maybe more? Of course beside HDTVs and high end 800$+ TVs.

Well, for a start, stay away from nVidia cards (geforce1/2) as their TV-out is quite substandard. I use to own a Geforce2MX and, though i thought it was quite good at the time, was simply blown away by my Radeon 8500 LE. GF2MX has 640x480 and 800x600 - you really need to get tvtool for better settings (overscan is a MUST). Radeon 8500 has 1024 x 768 in the latest leaked drivers.

So TV-out by an ATI Radeon (from my experience) is much better than that of Geforce2. Heard good things about Matrox TV-out but have not seen it b4..

Now does it matter what TV i have to get those resolutions or would any TV with S-video do?
